According to a report released by the Outdoor Industry Association, national parks and mountain resorts are viewed as the safest weekend and vacation destinations by Americans in the wake of the September 11th attacks. The report's poll, conducted by Leisure Trends between September 21 and October 6, asked about changes in leisure travel plans and activities. Many believe that outdoor activities and recreation can play a significant roll in the healing process of Americans. Other developing trends learned from this poll identified an increased importance in family time, getting back to nature, understanding our roots and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
