By now you’ve probably read about the Selway-Bitterroot Ecosystem project to reintroduce grizzly bears into the Northern Rockies. The US Fish and Wildlife Service had planned to establish a population of over 200 grizzly bears into this area over the next 50 years. Conservationists supported the plan to help get the grizzly bear off the endangered species list. Many residents of this area were frightened that the grizzly bears could kill their livestock and attack them while they are participating in outdoor activities. Other species, such as the gray wolf, have been reintroduced successfully, bringing them back from the brink of extinction. Would you support the reintroduction of animals such as the grizzly bear and gray wolf into your community so that we could ensure they would not become extinct?
